Air Jordan 1 was launched in 1985. It was Nike's first basketball shoe named after Jordan. It was this pair of shoes that started an era. The shape of Air Jordan 1 was inspired by the popular AirForce 1 that year. It also reduced the thickness of the midsole, reduced the weight, increased the ground feel, and used an Air Sole air cushion in the back palm; the most classic flying wing logo came from Peter Moore, Nike's creative director at the time.
