Air Jordan 1 was launched in 1985. It was Nike's first basketball shoe named after Jordan. It was this pair of shoes that started an era. The shape of Air Jordan 1 was inspired by the popular Air Force 1 that year, while reducing the thickness of the midsole, reducing weight, increasing the feeling of grounding, and using an Air Sole air cushion in the back palm; the most classic flying wing logo came from Peter Moore, Nike's creative director at the time.
