Air Jordan 1 was launched in 1985. It was Nike's first basketball shoe named after Jordan. It was this pair of shoes that started an era. The shape of Air Jordan 1 was inspired by the popular AirForce 1 that year, while reducing the thickness of the midsole, reducing weight, increasing the feeling of grounding, and using the Air Sole air cushion in the back palm and the classic flying wing logo from the then Nike creative director Peter Moore.
